Q&A

  1. How did you start with photo/video?
For as long as I can remember, I have had an innate curiosity and awareness of the stories that unfolded around me. With this an empathy and desire to understand what makes people who they truly are grew. My mother is an artist, so my passion for creating and telling stories through art is kind of genetic; I don’t think there is any me without self-expressing through photography and film. I’m very much an emotional storyteller.

I got my first camera when I was 5 and photography has been part of my life as long as I can remember. When I was 18 I bought my first Canon DSLR and that was when I truly started to develop my skills and develop into what I do today.

  1. How would you describe your style?
Emotional storytelling that is timeless and nostalgic, yet modern and fun, natural and cinematic.

  1. What inspires you?
I grew up cycling around the cobblestone streets of Copenhagen so in my photography I have a natural pull towards the rawness of the urban citylife, as well as a dueling need to escape the hustle and bustle to connect with nature and the intimacy that it fosters. Both really inspire me in their own way. I’m heavily inspired by the 1960’s and 1970’s fashion, music, culture, and portraits of romantic icons like Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. Music and film inspire me as well as the connection my couples share.

  1. What is your dream shoot or project?
Right now I’m going from shooting mostly big weddings to focusing more on intimate weddings and elopement. I want to shoot urban elopements and intimate weddings all over Europe. I would love to do an elopement in Paris, Prague and Amsterdam.

  1. What is your best advice to others that want to develop as photographers?
Practise, practise, practise. Find a community of like-minded people and support each other. Don’t stay isolated, but don’t compare yourself to others either and what you feel like you should be doing.

Trust your gut feeling to find what is right for you and yet have an open mind, other people might teach you something. If you like something you created, trust that it is good. You don’t need other people’s approval.

What is in your bag?

  1. What is the most important in your bag?
Besides my camera, it is my Tamron 35 mm SP 1.4 lens. I use it for 80% of my shots. It is the perfect lens for the kinds of work I do with lots of movement and rawness to it. It is sharp, fast and weather-sealed.

  1. What bag do you use?
I use the Lowepro Protactic AW II and love it. Best bag I have ever had, and it can store everything I need even when I travel abroad for weddings.
