Film base and processing

Candido films are made from Kodak Vision3 motion picture stock with the remjet backing removed before spooling. Because the remjet layer is already gone, the films can be developed using standard C-41 processing at any normal photo lab, with no special handling required.

Removing the remjet also affects the look of the image. Without the anti-halation backing, bright highlights can produce a visible glow, particularly noticeable around point light sources. This is a characteristic shared with other cinema-stock-based still films such as CineStill.

The range covers ISO 200, 400, and 800, all in 35mm/36 exposures and all C-41 process. Candido 200 is the fine-grain option for bright daylight, with a soft colour palette. Candido 400 is the daylight-balanced all-rounder for outdoor and mixed-light situations, with smooth contrast and enough speed to handle movement. Candido 800 is tungsten-balanced and made for low light, indoors, and night shooting, with more visible grain and punchy colour. Between the three, the range covers everything from full sun to available darkness.
