The Samyang 8mm f/3.5 UMC Fisheye CS II is a manually focused fisheye lens built for use on cameras with APS-C sensor, both DSLR and mirrorless models. It is also available in a version with Micro Four Thirds mount (Olympus and Panasonic).
The lens produce a 180 degree angle of view (167-degree with Canon) and fills the entire APS-C format, unlike circular fisheye lenses that provide a round image sorrounded by black edges.
The lens hood can be detached, making it possible to use the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 UMC Fisheye CS II also on full frame cameras, where it produces a nearly round image with heavy vignetting. This effect is desirable for users who want the largest possible angle / field of view to create panoramas and 360 ° VR images.
Thanks to an optical design with 10 lenses in 7 groups, including an aspheric lens, the image quality is high. Samyang's Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) prevents reflexes, ghosting and veils and ensures that the images get maximum contrast.
